The International Meteor Conference (IMC) brings together amateurs from all over the world who engage in meteor observation, analysis and meteor instrumentation. The program includes talks on the latest developments, poster sessions and entertainment. The conference will be hosted by the Meteor Section of the Royal Dutch Association for Meteorology and Astronomy (KNVWS), and will take place in Egmond, in the Netherlands from June 2 until June 5 . The IMC 2016 will happen just before the Meteoroids 2016 conference, held at ESTEC, Noordwijk from June 6-10, 50 km south of Egmond, stimulating participants to take advantage of this to participate in both events without any extra travelling expenses. Both amateur and professional meteor astronomers may benefit from Am-Pro cooperation. 2016 is also the year that the KNVWS Meteor Section celebrates its 70th anniversary. The IMC will take place in Egmond , a coastal town located close to the North Sea in the municipality of Bergen (30,000 inhabitants), some 45km north-west of Amsterdam. Egmond can easily be reached by plane and is well connected to other parts of the Netherlands by train or bus. The IMC is an annual meeting of the International Meteor Organization (IMO). It’s objectives are to encourage, support and coordinate meteor observing, to improve the quality of amateur observations, to disseminate observations and results to other amateurs and professionals and to make global analyses of observations received world-wide.
